MADAN KUMAR and H.C. LAKSHMIKANTH write: Although there was none of the melodrama of an NTR or an MGR in Dr Raj Kumar's dialogue delivery, his movies were nonetheless renowned for some stunning "dialogues", which has fans and fanatics repeating them even today a la Gabbar Singh.
Here are seven lines which we could remember at a pinch.
1) Sowcar Siddappa… ninna sampathige saval (Sampathige Savaal)
2) Yeveryday is not a Sunday (Keralida Simha)
3) Haalu kudida makkale baduko dilla,
inna visha kudida makkalu baduktaara, Nair-re? (Parashurama)
4) Deshadalli yaaru yaro mughdru kshaama bandu sayutaare, nimmantaurige saave barol-valla? (Jeevana Chaitra)
5) Heluvudakku, keluvadakku samayavalla (Kaviratna Kalidasa)
6) Nimm chikkappa chikkappa-ne horthu, yaarigu doddappa alla (Babruvahana)
7) Malagidda sarpavannua badidu yebbiside (Babruvahana)

I don’t remember the exact words, but I consider this as one of Raj’s most outstanding moments in Kannada cinema:
Bhakta Kumbara
Ranga… Vithala… Elli Hode Tande.
Panchajanya hotta ninna pavana kaigalinda ee pamarana seve maadalu bandeya prabhu…
…
Ello huttida gandige ello huttida gandannu katti… kamanaata aadisi…
jeevigalembo bombeya maado brahmana tande kumbara neenu…
Oh! What acting! What a movie!
Maanava Moole Maamsada Tadike
Idara Melide Togalina hodike…
bhaktiya belaku baalige beku
muktige vithalana kondadabeku
Who can forget the great songs of Hunsur Krishnamurthy and the immortal music of GK Venkatesh (who gave music to 54 of 206 Rajkumar movies… a record!) BTW, GKV was Ilayaraja’s guru.
And another most emotional moment from Raj’s movies was Kasturinivasa. The scene where he prays to god that Jayanti wouldn’t ask for something that he couldn’t give! What a scene…
And finally:
Tying mangala sootra to the dead body of Jamuna in Sakshatkara… Olave Jeevana Sakshatkara…
All these were defining moments for Kannada cinema.

great going folks.
in sakshaatkara when he goes to bengLoor to pick his mom, and when he first comes to know of the plot, there is a scene when he just stares. no dialogue. no nothing. just stares. and in that silence is intense tension and drama. i think he later on goes on to top it with that thaayi dialogue.
has to be one of the best shots in kannada movies. right there with the some of the scenes in chomana duDi.
on a lighter note, his take on arya dharma vis-a-vis kanyaamaNi’s approaching him, gets me wife mighty wound up. ;)

dialogs from “Bhaagyavantaru” should also have been included, the dialog where dr Raj says “parvathi, parvathi, yentha maklu…………”
