Churumuri is proud to introduce its latest contributor, Alfred Satish Jones of Gokulam and Washington, D.C..

In his first despatch, Satish, an alumnus of CFTRI School and Mahajana College, shows how a whole new generation is growing up in the US of A, little knowing that there is a State like ours.

At least I am glad there is resurgence of feeling in rejuvinating Kannada , thanks to the contribution by none other than our Karnataka’s pride Rajkumar. It is not enough to feel this momentary enthusiasm but must be followed with purposive action Probably the best tribute we can pay to his memory is to popularise Kannada at every level. It is said that Kananadigas are Abhimnyashuraru and our misplaced sense of politeness has been taken to the extreme extent as to always talk in the language of other people whenever we meet them or mostly in English. This is not to denigrate other languages and our learnign Telgu , Tamil may indicate of sense of secularism but this has slowly eaten away the pride of our own mother toungue and forgotten the tremendous hold our rulers had on many parts of India The fans of Rajkumar who went berserk as though it is the way to pay homage to Rajkumar must now make atonement by joining together to start a movement to propogate Kannada not going about blackening the boards and resorting to blackmail or force but more in keeping with the true spirit of inculcating the love for the language. Not many people know that Chieftains/Kings from Karnataka ruled Tamil Nadu and even as far off places like Kannauj, Mithila etc. There is a very good book written by A.S.Nataraj well researched giving historical documentation in his book Hornaadina Muuru Karnataka Rajyagalu published by Hamsa Publishers Bangalore.
