Heaven knows that Indian cricket has enough misery on its plate. Pathetic on-field performances, even more pathetic off-field performances by the administrators. A coach’s job which no one wants to take up. Controversies over player payments and endorsements, and TV rights. Conflicts of interest of key functionaries. And we are still scratching the surface of the “world’s richest cricket body”.
As if all that were not enough comes news that Lalu Prasad is being discussed as a possible successor to Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Not this September when the BCCI polls are held, but two years from now, when it’s Pawar’s turn to vacate. Obviously Lalu’s “record” as Railway Minister and his politicking abilities will be held in his favour.
Question: Will Lalu Yadav as BCCI chief be a good thing or a bad thing for Indian cricket? Or does it not matter given the state of the game in the country?
By then hockey will seem positively well managed!!!

When no wise men dare the others try their hand and may be their luck too. They think that people learn by experience. If not Lalu some other person may come forward to hold the bat.God save India, if there is a God.

Just like Lalu “officially” allowed 20 tonnes to be carried instead of 12 tonnes and improved railways–he will demand 15 players for our team –with atleast 49 percent from oppressed sections/castes to have social justice–
If he gets it we may win matches– since 15 against traditional eleven should be easier

Why is Lalu bad when sharad pawar and Dalmiya are ok? Is it cozs of asuumed superiority of people here….. or his background is lower class?

Laloo might profitably put his antidiluvian methods to imbue discipline in the team…for starters, the cowherd whip would do the trick. For the intransigent and the ilk..a treat to a sauna of boiling oil might be the right medicine.
Either way…why do we expect world class performance from a team emanating from a society – that’s down right rotten, corrupt, unscruplous and many other such things. Do we put such pressure on our politicians???

Lalu at the helm may not make much difference to Indian cricket . As it is, the game has become money spinner , Who knows Lalu may have one or two tricks to make it more profitable to all concerned except cricket lovers

first, we need to ask, “where does Bihar stand in the Ranji trophy scheme of things? ”
Lalu is also the president of the Bihar Cricket Board..
