One question I’m dying to ask B.S. Yediyurappa

By churumuri

25 May 2008 is a saffron-lettered day in the diary of Bookanakere Siddalingappa Yediyurappa. Not only has he won the resounding mandate of the people of Karnataka to lead the State, he has succeeded in helping the BJP set foot in the southern peninsula. For someone whose chief ministerial ambitions were chopped off after just a week in office last year, this is the pinnacle of a chequered career.

What is the one question you would like to ask Karnataka’s next chief minister? What should his focus-areas be in the first three, first six and first twelve months in office?

  1. Anil Says:

    Congrats…..

Will Yeddi be sucessful in controlling the Bellary Lobby ??

It is definately a tight rope walk for Yeddi.

One more electioon along with the Loksabha election cannot be ruled out.

  2. shanks Says:

Some thoughts for the BJP, not that they don’t have a think tank team of their own.

    1. Take all sections of the state into confidence. Never never take decisions based on caste calculations

    2. Keep away as far as possible (at least in the eyes of the public) from all Maths and other religious institutions

    3. Keep only the development mantra in mind

    4. Do not fight and contradict your own government in public

    5. Maintain decency and decorum in private life, do not be seen with doubtful elements

    6. Never involve a family member in decision making

    7. Keep off the press as far as possible

    8. Appoint people of eminence to public offices. Again do not go by influence, money and caste

    9. Lastly always think of how hell it was to be opposition. So to stick to power GIVE GOOD GOVERNANCE

  3. cheddiyurappa Says:

Will Shobha Karandlaje be straightaway inducted into the ministry? Or will she get her chance in the first expansion?

How much time do you give yourself before Ananth Kumar and gang begin causing their usual pin pricks?

Does the Bababudan Giri issue stand buried once and for all or will it be raised at the right opportunity?

  4. Gaby Says:

Will there be another homa- havana in the CM’s cabinet and possibly this time a satya Narayana Pooje in the Assembly Hall?

  5. kaangeya Says:

when Indira jailed you during the Emergency, did you ever imagine there would be a day like today?

  6. suri Says:

When can we expect to see HDK and HDD in Judicial custody for looting the state treasury.

  7. oochara Says:

Sir, hats off…this win is definitely yours! I would not be surprised if you turn out to be Karnatakas visionary CM in the coming months.

Will there be anything to hold you back to do what you want to the state’s progress ever?

  8. Poli Hudga Says:

Mr. Yedi-your-yappa(as sagarika of ibnlive pronounces) I congratulate you for winning peoples mandate.

Please smile at cameras, we want see smiling faces in newspapers and television. Will you learn a thing or two from Mr. Smile Sadananda Gowda ?

When are you deporting Mr. Kumara ( I mean Ananth) ?

You had claimed to present 1 laksha (saavira ?) koti budget for karnataka … will you be able finance minister again & do the same ?

last but not least, For how long shobha has to wait to become ..Mrs…. err.. minister ?

  9. Shravan Says:

Good questions from Anil and Shanks…. although I dont see anything wrong with press…. That should be at the forefront in any democracy….

My “1″ question would be what would you do for the (further)
    development of Kannada?

  10. Anil Says:

you could not even simple mejority
What you want to beg Kumara For help?or Get pripared for another election? or Break JDS And have 120+?
    Anthu Enthu Kunthi makkalige Rajyavilla

  11. Satish Says:

Congrats to win over the Ravana’s

Do prove ur ability to eradicate the Corruptions & give us the Good Governance ,that’s all we expect not the internal politics and fights and slow growth. We will handle all others in World.
Pls look after our local bills to be low. We are already paying thro our nose to centeral govt. 33% tax + tax on all purchase + petrol tax’s …. 50% of my salary goes to Govt and later to 20% to Banks as interest.

Pls pls give us a simple living.

    Regards
    Satish Kashidevaru

  12. Gouri Satya Says:

Mr. new CM your are three short of majority and that three can ditch you, is n’t it? 80+28+ (6 are Independents). How will you manage to retain majority Mr. new CM?

  13. vishnukumar Says:

    yedi are you ready ?

  14. Sandesh Says:

    @Anil
“you could not even simple mejority”

English sariyagi barolla… question kelokke hogtane.. hehe!

    Mr Yediyur,
Hope the govt will be stable and will last 5 years.

  15. SuReSh Says:

    Way to go BJP………………..

that’s a good head start for yeddyurappa.

all the best for a bright and prosperous karnataka.

  16. krishna Says:

A stable government at last, I hope yeddi has the gumption to do justice to the people of karnataka. This is BJP’s first and last chance down south if they fail they will be HISTORY. All he has to do is develop all regions of the state and control the realty and mining mafia.

  17. Pulikeshi the Last Says:

    Sandesh,

Anil’s meaning is clear. No point in making fun of his syntax.

    Questions for presumptive chief minister:

Can you promise us Kannadigas that you will not sell Rajya Sabha seats to outsiders? Or sell them to anybody for that matter?

Can you promise that you will not let the Hindiwallahs rule us from New Delhi? Whatever your answer is, I cannot believe that you touched Advani’s feet in front of thousands of people.

You are like any other politician. Can you prove that you can change yourself into an honest one?

Can you promise to prosecute the Gowda Family, SMK, yourself and your chelas for corruption?

  18. Pulikeshi the Last Says:

I forgot to advise you to practice the politics of revenge. Hold every criminal politician–216 in all–responsible for looting us.

  19. Narayana Says:

Will there be three more kudures?
Rest of the questions at my blog.

  20. Faldo Says:

    Naguveya? Neenu eegalaadaru election geddiruvaaga?

  21. ashwini Says:

    @Shanks

What do you mean by ‘keep off the press as far as possible’?

  22. Koppal Haida Says:

Can you ensure the development of North karnataka?
Can you promise that you will not auction Bangalore to every northie that walks into the city and resist Hindi imperialists?
Can you promise that you will not fawn before ‘Sha’ws and murthys and dole them will land at throw away prices? Can you ensure that locals get their share of jobs in industries in karnataka?

  23. Ananda Says:

Will you promise that you will not make Karnataka another Gujarat???

  24. Arunadri Says:

    My single question would be

Will you take a tough decision when it comes to safe guarding the interests of Kannadigas in the matters pertaining to Nadu-Nudi-Gadi-Jala-Bhashe??

  25. Shiva Says:

I have no questions for you but only a small suggestion
Please do not worry anything about country/state/people etccc.

Please enjoy your hard earned power, you can share with shoba also.
Because any time anathakumar will pull out your chair

  26. rama Says:

    Congratulations Mr.Yediyurappa!

One question: Will you try to transfer Manivannan again?! (Please dont)

Will you send a ‘Get well soon’ card to Kumaranna and his dad?

  27. Bengaluru Manja Says:

    First congrats for reaching 110.

But how will u get another 1 ( 1 MLA for speaker ) then simple arithmatic will trouble you ,haunt you throughout your tenure. Were u good in maths in highscholl days as well as ARE YOU GOOD IN MLA MANAGEMENT( ala PUBLIC RELATIONS )

  28. Koppal Haida Says:

    Folks,
Can you please let me know whether the MES or DMK or TDP have won any seats? What do these ‘others’ constitute?

  29. Old Mysorean Says:

Can he be able to control Bellary mining lobby or had he won this election without the support of them?. He has a lot to answer to people of North Karnataka who supported BJP like their life is at risk if BJP doesn’t comes to power this time. I was annoyed this time about BJP as even North Indian setu’s at whole sale saree market ask us to vote for BJP through in last Lok sabha(2004) i voted fort them for MP seat.

  30. Boring journalist Says:

    Koppal Haida
Noneof the parties other than the three major ones, have been to open the account. All those who come under the category of others are all independents, the rebels

  31. Sunil Says:

    Yeddi…Congrats on spectacular win.

Can you please desist from giving the Home and Minining portfolios to Janardhan Cheddi and Co ??

( seems that they are already planning to demand these portfolios )

Can you Pls save karnataka from these Cheddis ???

  32. sisya Says:

where are you getting the remaining three seats from? and how much are you paying for it?

  33. Isveswaraiah Says:

In the centre the BJP being the party supported by traders is the richest party in India. In the state we have the poweful Mining lobby, the rich vokkaligas and the rich GSBs and Bunts from Karwar supporting it. Buying three MLAs is too small a task for such a party. No horse trading, they will buy them like we buy ‘Tarkari’

  34. Hosa-Belaku Says:

Okay, so the betrayal card helped the BJP win a near-majority in Karnataka. How will you fight the larger BJP gameplan from playing havoc with your local development roadmap?
People easily recognised the villain in HDD…they probably knew you would be the CM if BJP came to power. So why are you ruining your own chances by glorifying Arun Jaitley?
I mean, you are already making basic mistakes by giving your local victory a BJP-party achievement hue. Just stick to the local scene now and deliver the goods or soon YOU will be the BETRAYER of a people’s mandate. Don’t try to do a Narendra Modi to impress the Arun Jaitleys and Advanis. Remember the national BJP is only basking in reflected glory at the moment (including one Ananth Kumar).

  35. Bengaluru Manja Says:

    Dear Koppal Haida ,

NO MES,TDP & NOT EVEN CPI OR CPM,
THE OTHERS ARE PURE INDEPENDENTS OWING ALLEGENCE TO :
    CONGRESS REBELS – 4
    JDS REBEL – 1
    BJP REBEL -1

NOW THE HYPOTHICAL QUESTION IS IF Shakuntal shetty had won from Puttur what sadananda gowda would have done.Requested her to come back to BJP or would have asked Yediyurappa to do request

  36. akshaya anna Says:

    Yeddi – your – appa,

What is the partnership planning with the independents?
Is it going to be money or portfolio to them ?
If money, is the amount diffusion per week or per month based on their support ?
Are you going to break JD(S) to stay in power for 5 years?
Are all 3 female MLA going to become Ministers ?
Is Shobha Karandlaje also going to drown in Underground Sump or in Open Lake?

  37. Sunil Says:

    Yeedi,

In Today’s BJP’s legislature party, the party has entrusted the role of Getting the support of Independents to cheddy brothers.

Why ? why ? why ? Don’t you have other eminent leaders in your party who can do the deal ?

Or do u think Cheddy brothers can do the manupulation easy and have the money power to buy them ??

Don’t give too much of SCOPE and LIBERTY to Cheddis. Ultimately they will ruin you…

You really have to make decisions carefully as 5 crore peoples are watching you….

  38. Gaby Says:

Will you remember Yeddy that you have to walk the razors edge- you dont have a sizable majority and factionalism is not limited to the Congress. As you continue to make the Reddys too strong will you also read the story of Frankenstein?

  39. Pulikeshi the Last Says:

The cost of a Congress B form is two crores. For BJP and JDS it is three. An MLA’s price is 5 crore. He can hope to put three times as much money in his pocket in five years. The independents thus together are worth more than one hundred and ten crore. Even two hundred crore is play money to the Congress-JDS as well as the BJP. Imagine what will happen if four independents decide to support whomever on the outside and switch parties according to their mood.

Time for S. L. Bhyrappa to write part II of “Mathadaana.”

  40. Pulikeshi the Last Says:

    Gaby–

Read Frankenstein? I can think of only three Karnataka politicians who read anything other than their bank accounts–Kadidal Manjappa, J. H. Patel, and M. P. Prakash. Then perhaps their favorite reading was Chanakya’s Arthashasthra.

  41. Rohith Says:

    Who will be your deputy?

  42. Pulikeshi the Last Says:

    BSY to Rohith–

I have asked the Honourable H. D. Kumaraswamy to serve as my Deputy CM. I assure you that he will enjoy that office as much as I did. At this time, the support of an additional 28 MLAs does not appear to be unsavoury. The only roadblock is that I have to get this goal accomplished before the former PM arrives in Bengaluru from New Delhi. If necessary, I will promise that venerable sage the Presidency of India when the NDA assumes power in New Delhi next year.

P.S: Do you know any tailors good at making safari suits for a man who adds an inch or two to his girth every week? I have communicated my need for this information to the Honourable Dharam Singh and the similarly rotund Shri Kharge. A very close well-wisher is insisting that my dimensions not exceed hers.

  43. Gaby Says:

If its true that whoever wins in Karnataka loses in Delhi- so are the BJP central leadership TOTALLY happy with you?

  44. Poornima Says:

    Yedi,

Better start working on Dr.Raj’s ’samaadhi’ which is in pathetic state. The legend deserves better. In the political circus we have witnessed, his family has been cheated. If you don’t complete the ’samaadhi’ within a year, you have my curse (and others’) your governemnt will go down to dogs.

  45. Gaby Says:

    Poornima Akka,
Iam curious as to how Raj Kumar’s family got cheated? They seemed to have gone along with the tide despite having enough influence to do the best for their father’s memory. I also what happened to that image of sychophancy- the abhimaani devathe!

  46. shanks Says:

    To: ashwini

Generally “No News is Good News”. No matter what you say and what you intend to say. The Press always has a perspective of their own. Just see what’s happening in our own town. We have a big “NEWS” coming from a ashram near Chamundi Hills, but our BOLD, FREE and UNBIASED Paper is happily ignorant about it. So much for these papers and SOME Journalists

Frankly, they should come to you and ask and beg for information. Never go after them. Concentrate on the good governance, press will just follow you.

  47. Doode Says:

Is good governance on the agenda or Ram Mandir?????
Is infrastructure on the agenda or Datta peeta?
Is inflation on the agenda or moral policing?
Is making progress to next century or going back to middle ages???

We will know the answers in coming months……………….

  48. Poornima Says:

    Gaby Thamma,

When Rajkumar died, his family was ready to bury him in their own land (Puneeth farm). But k’swamy offered the land in kanteerava studio only to desert the samadhi later. If this is not cheating, then what is? Despite the family’s influence, they have not been able to do anything in govt. land. They have said again and again that had it been in their own land, they would have done wonders by now. I believe them. Hope you know what happened on the last b’day of the actor near his samadhi.

  49. Gaby Says:

    Poornima Akka,
Why did they not tell HDK to go to hell & cremate him ( their dad and not HDK) in their farm. Well they were either folls or they were in awe of another fool ( HDK) or there were motives we were never told about. The cheating matter you speak off doesnt enter the scene at all.

In any case why havent this family raised any other memorial to their father and in any case it isnt the job of the Government to build and run memorials. If the person is truly great civil society and the persons heirs should shoulder that job.

    Also its Gaby Thangi.

  50. Poornima Says:

    Gaby,
Sorry I could not make out by your name and called you ‘thamma’ instead of ‘thangi’. I see what you are saying but I don’t agree with you. Every one is entittled to their opinion. I still stand by statement. It’s too easy to say the family could have told HDK to go to hell. Under the circumstances, they did what they thought was right.

  51. NS Rao Says:

    Yeddi,
Shobha Karandlaje gets your Anugraha?? ;-)

  52. Pulikeshi the Last Says:

Enough talk about Rajakumaara. You are beginning to sound like thatskannada.com.

  53. roopa Says:

yeddi u did it!!! congrats chinna;)

  54. sweta Says:

    Hona, respected Sir,
