The Queen has a soft corner for male reporters

Helen Mirren, the 63-year-old British actress who won the Academy Award for playing The Queen, on why she likes to be interviewed by male reporters, in The Sunday Times, London:

“I prefer male journalists because there’s a streak of female journalism—the bitches—who are mean-spirited and nasty because you are another woman and want to make you feel crap.

“It’s very upsetting.

“I’m more careful when I’m being interviewed by a woman because, from experience as well as reading articles about other women, I know there is a little stiletto knife hidden behind the back.”

I definitely agree with her that there are a section(if not all) of people like that. I bet no man can make such a remark and get away unscathed.

    “The” Queen.
who cares what a person who acted like the british queen says?

if it were our own saroja devi, who did the role of kittur chennamma, who said this i might be vaguely interested. but even then vaguely.

but i definitely dont care about what some yesteryear actress said. and i definitely dont share the fetish of the editor.

the only reason i responded was bcoz of the “The” Queen psy-ops in this post.

on to more pressing issues. do you think ATS work has been good as dipankar gupta claims? That investigation has more leaks than my grandmother’s hittin jaraDi. you think this does any good to the legal process or to the rights of the accused? and what about the allegations of torture? how come you are not stirred up to fight for legal process and due rights a-la l’affaire haneef?

  8. Doddi Buddi Says:

Thank you editor for a superb photo of Helen Mirren! You certainly have the taste and right impulses.

I wish all our grandmothers would be so fetching keeping our Granddads in shape.

Any one who was watched Prime Suspect would love and appreciate Helen Mirren. Caligula was nice from a historical point-of-view:)

Mirren speaks the truth. Look at our own backyard ‘bitches’ in the likes of Kavitha Lankesh, Vinutha Mallya, Sagarika Ghose, Arundhati Roy and many more!

  9. Vinay Says:

    Sixty Three???!!!

  10. Dr. Sree Reddy Says:

Why not ? Many botox injections and plastic surgery can make such figure possible.
What would have been the reactions of bloggers if Churumuri had posted a bikini clad Indian film artists here? Let us say Aishwarya Rai.

  11. Karihaida Says:

Going by this post on churmuri and all the comments along with the news 72 yr olds have started to join the oldest profession, granny fetish is well and truly on the rise :(

  12. Palahalli Says:

He he…she was in Caligula?? I wouldn’t be able to tell amongst all of those extras ;) Btw, was she an extra in that movie?

  13. Palahalli Says:

Dr Reddy…Aishwarya at over 60? Surely you jest…;)

  14. C++ Says:

I think she would be one of the 72 things that would be on offer if i blow myself up..

  15. Vinutha Mallya Says:

Doddi Buddi-avarey, which stiletto knife of mine has won me this grand mention among such esteemed women? Helen Mirren is entitled to her personal opinion based on her experience with journalists and giving interviews. Since you are nameless and prefer to hide behind a pseudonym to air your ‘views’ and ‘opinions’, it is curiosity which begs the question: who drove a stiletto into your backside that you agree with the elegant Ms Mirren?

  16. Doddi Buddi Says:

    Ms Mallya,

You are also using a pseudonym only you refuse to see it. I think the metaphorical stiletteo has been repeatedly used in the back and backside of a hapless country called India.

BTW how is the Malay Ponzi scheme doing? Still championing your promoters?

  17. larissa Says:

She looks good for 62. It is good for people to stay in shape. The reward is a better quality of the last 15 years of your life on which fitness has the greatest impact. As for her comments about the jealous females…it’s funny… But men have told me that if you have a group of men together there is also competition and back stabbing…Good for her to stay so healthy and fit at 62…

  18. Doddi Buddi Says:

    Friendsville,

I think you should watch your movies more closely.

  19. Sandesh Says:

    Err… vinutha mallya
On the internet … no one can certify that they are using the “real” names as the ones who use “pseudonyms”… unless you post your bio. DB avara hesara bagge dialogue hodibedi… rest of the comment I have no comment though.

  20. Faldo Says:

Just as Ms. Mirren prefers male journalists, I’m sure male journalists would prefer her to interviewing someone else.

  21. Palahalli Says:

Thanks DB, i’ll watch it again :)

  22. bari olu Says:

    DB,
You are spot on when u say Backyaard ‘bitches’!! :) Seriously intavra gantlige gaana haaka. Yen badkotaarappa.

  23. kannadiga:) Says:

If she looks this good at 62 what would she be looking like in her 20′s…can churmuri post a photo of this lady in similar dress when she was 20 years old ;)

  24. Palahalli Says:

Kannadiga:), dunno if they had these bikinis when she was that young..(?)

  25. kannadiga:) Says:

    Palahalli,

I said “similar” dress. I will compromise for anything close to it. I remember seeing a photo of Sonia Maino basking on a beach with a similar dress. Assuming Mirren and Sonia are of similar/same age group, I do not see any reason why churmuri cannot get a photo of Mirren in a 2 piece bath suit :).

  26. Palahalli Says:

    You carry on kannadiga:)

You just made me lose my appetite :(
