Nice to see RK Vidyashala playing cricket.When we were in school they were champs in most of the sports like volleyball, basketball, athletics,swimming but never held a bat.It seemed like cricket was an anathema to them.

Bari olu.There is a difference.RK mission swamijis are some of the most learned and secular people you can find. We rarely see RK Mission swamijis get into any kind of controversy.

Just wait for some more time. Read Jyotirmaya Sharma’s book on Hindutva, the saffron terrorism has been clearly traced back to Swami Vivekanada – Aurobindo – Hedgewar – Golwalkar – Advani- Modi.
The RK ashram swamis are as much secular as the pope or ayatollahs are.

1. disagree with chiddi chikka – I studied in this school from 1980 to 85 ( any other amuni on this forum?). The swamijis are learned and not sectarian in any way. We celebrated christmas, had a christmas tree in the prayer hall etc. The focus was on spirituality rather than religion. I entered as a 12 year oldand left the institution aged 17 with my agnosticism intact, but as a great admirer of Swami Vivekananda

I was surprised too. We did not have a cricket team nor did we have a cricket ground or pitch. On my most recent visit in 2007 I still did not see one. Once a year there was a staff vs students cricket match and that was all for cricket. They did cancel some classes during the world cup if there was an important match though.
