i visited gol gumbaz back in 2004…and i was quite shocked to see how poorly they maintained the tomb…. people had spit pan masala right from the first step to the last one.. i even hesitated to take support of the wall while climbing the stairs……. it was so dirty..so ugly.. and add to that… people had engraved their names, their loved one’s names etc on the walls.. i wana know…y do we indians lack civic sense?? y cant we maintain such beautiful piece of architectures with care?? be it gol gumbaz.. or any other historical monument…..we need proper co-ordination between people(visitors) and the maintainance authorities. and the second which drew my attention was .. the entry fees. it was mentioned as $1 for foreigners and Rs.5 for local indians. y this bias b/w locals and foreigners???can anybody enlighten me if in foreign countries too they charge entry fees based on their nationality??or is it the same for all?? whatever be the arguments, i was ashamed to look at such a nice structure almost literally going to dogs due to poor maintainance …..
