The BJP has been getting plenty of free, unsolicited advice—much of it well deserved, almost all of it well earned—on what it needs to do to rebuild its house washed away by the electoral tsunami: Dump Hindutva; stop peddling hate; don’t ignore Muslims; don’t ignore Christians; get fresh faces; think 21st century, not 12th….
As the party’s top guns observe a “majority” version of Moharram, happily flagellating themselves in public, these are delightful times for pseudo-secular aka pseudo-sickular aka p-sec elements who were getting plenty of free, unsolicited advice on how Akhand the India that is Bharat should be.
Professor Jyotirmaya Sharma of the University of Hyderabad, author of Terrifying Vision: Golwalkar, RSS and India, goes one step further in Mail Today and says the BJP has to “perforce split”:
“The only way for the party to solve [its] ideological confusions is to split.
“Those who still turn their face towards Nagpur and the Mahal and Reshembaugh localities of that city can go their way, while those who have despaired of khakhi shorts and dandas as well as the unlovely, deep and dark corridors of the RSS headquarters in Nagpur can get together to build a new political force within Indian politics.
“Indian democracy is strong and generous enough to accommodate yet another proliferation of parties, though it would be interesting to speculate what the party flags and symbols of these two parties would be, were the BJP to split vertically.
“A prospective split will also for ever solve the festering leadership crisis within the party, something that seems impossible at the moment. An RSS brokered truce on the leadership question is hardly the solution and is bound to cause secondaries in the future.
“The BJP must help Mohan Bhagwat go down in history as the last sarsanghchalak who presided over something called the Sangh Parivar.”

Indeed there is a need to split BJP. If it spawns a youthful, right insightful party, sure youth will be there with it. Time to come out with new colors.

…”these are delightful times for pseudo-secular aka pseudo-sickular aka p-sec elements who were getting plenty of free, unsolicited advice on how Akhand the India that is Bharat should be.”
This is classic. ROFL!!!!!!

So what do you have now? BJP will split into two. BJP (HH) and BJP (SH)? HH being Hard Hindutva and SH being Soft Hindutva
BJP (HH) would have Modi as its leader, supported by the likes of so called brilliant strategists like Arun Jaitely.
BJP (SH) would have Yashwant SInha as its leader supported by Jaswant Singh.
Arun Jaitely is the man who presided over the 2004 elections and now the 2009 elections. He got it wrong both times. Disaster. He may win consolation prizes in the form of Karnataka and BIhar states, but he has NEVER ever manged to win the country for BJP. Two back to back defeats say a lot about his ‘brilliance.”
It was apalling to hear Sagarikha Ghosh gushing in admiration for Arun jaitely on Face the Nation programme on CNN IBN on 15th June. SHe described him as a very very very brilliant man!
Media just does not seem to do its homework. For example Deve Gowda is supposed to be a shrewd political strategist, acording to the media.
BUt what is his track record? In the past 14 years, his party has been in power only for three years. 3 years out of 14 is a pathetic record. And in the last three elections his vote share and seats are dwindling.
How can a brilliant strategist allow the decay of his party? Deve Gowda has never ever managed to win Karnataka on his own steam. In 1994, when JD won the karnataka elections, it was with generous help from Ramakrishna Hegde.
With HEgde gone, Deve GOwda has never been able to win more than 20% of the votes and seats in Karnataka. so much for his ‘brilliance’.

No Idea, how the wisdom of vertical split contributing to the growth of BJP. As it is BJP can never grow beyond the regions it already represents.
The only way it could have come to power was/is through alliances with regional parties. The louh purush lost the significance of alliances just like the maratha Peshwa who went to panipat, amidst angry sikh, rajput ,jats whom they had looted and plundered. The result is all to see, as it was at that time.
India needs a strong opposition, otherwise the congress will revert back to its old dictatorial trend. The way they are behaving towards the parties which helped it last term should be warning for the things to come.
17 June 2009 at 1:32 pm
A very daring thought. But would that help RSS come to power?
A very slim possibility. Is it worth taking the thought forward?
17 June 2009 at 3:28 pm
Which BJP would then have the honour of hosting the Reddy brohers/ Sriramulu et al ?
17 June 2009 at 8:26 pm
*khan*
you state incorrectly, “. . . like the maratha Peshwa who went to panipat, amidst angry sikh, rajput ,jats whom they had looted and plundered.”
sir, both the premises in your statement are factually incorrect. i suggest you brush up your history!

“are delightful times for pseudo-secular ”
Indeed they are. The middle class had hoped for some maturity and humility from the winners, it is instead seeing them dancing on the grave of the defeated. Not a very pretty sight!

The pseudosecular fools are doing chaddis a favour. They are bringing Hindutva to be debated at a national level….something the chaddis couldnt do when they were in power. All the “volcanic” and “resignation” natakbaazi is nothing but a ploy to keep themselves in the news. Everyone knows that Congress won because of Raj Thackrey and Chiri splitting votes and Communists getting Composted! All the talk of Varun Gandhi…Narendra Modi as PM are not the real factors why BJP lost.
Are you saying that voters outside Varun Gandhis constituency did not vote for BJP because of what he said..and folks in his own constituency cared a rats ass about what he said? How do you explain his victory in his own constituency? Varun and Modi are all props being used by hard core chaddi spinmeisters to keep people talking about Hindutva. The psec idiots are willingly consuming it…and keeping the issue alive. Obviously the english media websites and blogs like churumuri need something to be burning all the time to get hits and generate ad revenues. I challenge Churumuri to do an experiment by keeping off Hindutva and BJP baiting for 2 months and resume it again for 2 more months and see the difference in the number of hits.

The Congress.

@Mysore Peshwa
Sir, I belive you know your history and saddened that, someone would call himself “Mysore Peshwa” after knowing all the yearly loot and plunder committed by the peshwas to Mysore kingdom.
It was an regular pastime of peshwas to lay seige to mysore and plunde the countryside, untill Hyderali shown them their place.
About the premise and example both are very very relevant. If Marathas had not plundered the skihs, rajputs, and jats, the outcome of the panipat would have been very different. It is the lack of allies in North that marathas could not take Delhi, so is the present BJP.
If you know history you could get so many parallel in this election and panipat.

###I challenge Churumuri to do an experiment by keeping off Hindutva and BJP baiting for 2 months and resume it again for 2 more months and see the difference in the number of hits.###
I too have wondered, why the Cheddis come back again and again if Churmuri does only cheddi bashing????
Do they drive some pleasure out of humiliation..ala bondage???
This might give clue to researchers and intellectuals like ram guha, why from Advani down to RSS Knicker wala revel in “victim hood” mentality.
Strange !!!!

>>This might give clue to researchers and intellectuals like ram guha, why from Advani down to RSS Knicker wala revel in “victim hood” mentality>>
LOL…Look who is talking
18 June 2009 at 11:56 pm
LOLs…the party that thrives on encouraging the victimhood mentality of the minorities is blaming the othere side for the same..classical tu tu main main :)
20 June 2009 at 11:19 am
@ Khan ..who said Ram Guha is an intellectual? At best he can be considered a useful idiot in your attempts at Al-Taquiyya.
And why do you assume anyone pointing the shortcomings of the pseudo secular brigade is a chaddi? Is every Muslim a terrorist…because all terrorists are muslims? So how does anyone who points to the cracks in the so called secular group automatically become a chaddi? If you dont like the nationalist khaki chaddi try the pink variety..Ram Sene will mail you one for free.
20 June 2009 at 5:47 pm
Hmmm….
But the perception of “Victim hood” in 85% “Majority” is more vocal it seems, that it is practicing physical training for the last 100 years.
Some of the pet peeves as noted by Tehelka in Bajragi camp:
http://www.tehelka.com/story_main42.asp?filename=Ne270609national_defence.asp
The Muslims are taking over the country by converting Hindus, by pretending to be Hindu and marrying our women. Hindus will soon be extinct. Already the Muslims exceed Hindus in India. We must remove the mullahs from our country. They kill our Gau Mata; each cow has 2,300 devis inside her .
If a Hindu girl marries a Muslim boy, her head should be chopped off,’ says Sandeep, 15
Ram Ram chilayange, mullhe kate jaayenge.
when the Guru asked, “How we will remove Muslims?” the boys said in unison: “We will cut them up!”
How insecure are the 85% Majority??? Pity and Shame at the same time.
21 June 2009 at 2:38 am
@ Khan…
Bhajrangis dont go to madrasas…they are aware of whats happening around them thru internet etc. They see these videos…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XK1pnCldKZI
So continue your Al Taqiyya with Al Tehalka….you cant fool all people all the time.
22 June 2009 at 7:54 am
Ok, now we have the spectacle of BJP propounding ‘inclusive hindutva’, What ever that means! – http://ibnlive.in.com/news/bjp-frames-new-party-line-inclusive-hindutva/95340-37.html
The BJP national executive yesterday decided to stick to hindutva, but a tolerant one. makes one wonder – where they intolerant and exclusive till now?
How confused can a party get? First they let all the corrupt of the world to get in to the party. They also let a lunatic fringe run amok without a regard, and screw up what was once a great party with principles.
And now they make a mockery of everyones intelligence!!
- Not a single person has resigned for the debacle in the polls.
- No changes in overall outlook or policy
- All chintans and Manthans have come up with nothing
What the heck is going on?
22 June 2009 at 12:10 pm
Harkol
Lost all respect I had for BJP… sad to see once a “different” party now reduced to being indifferent to the very principles that took it so far.
22 June 2009 at 11:17 pm
Khan. Those are the bajrangis. On this blog computer literate people like you are peddling ridicule and hatred of the “Majority” and their religions customs. Ways to go!
23 June 2009 at 4:08 am
Ankit,
Where did you get that, am rediculing “the majority”, if ever there is a species as such.
India is made of “n” number of minorities, any stunt pulled by punditji will never going to change that. India if ever was singularly homogenous majority was only during Buddhist period, where every one was equal, from Afghanistan to lanka.
Alas it was replaced by a exclusion religion of manuvadis.
Cool down now, as BJP has also realised albeit a little late, that their hate and exclusion politics never going to be rewarded.
23 June 2009 at 4:48 am
@Reddy Janardhan
So, that is what you hidden fear is?? Muslims rule Europe and you are answering the call of vatican here!!!!
Who is joining the Church here, on reddy’s call??
Bravo reddy way to go……..
23 June 2009 at 1:53 pm
Khan. I am just using your definition of “Majority” from the post on 20 June, all your hot air of “manuvaadis” and other jargon notwithstanding. Why are you running away from that?
One can see your hate peddling and ridicule on the Amitabh Bachhan post so don’t run away again..
23 June 2009 at 5:57 pm
Khan is known Hindu Baiter. It is better to ignore his comments which most of the times is a drivel. He is a past master is Al-Takiya
23 June 2009 at 10:32 pm
That’s all!!!!
It is amazing how soon these majority get “hurt”!! tatha Ad-vani tatha chelas.
What will happen to these “little men” when someone really redicule them???
I expected someone to atleast point out logically, but for those raised on the “templates”, it is so much convenient to repeat and repeat the same old drivel.
24 June 2009 at 8:19 pm
Khan. You ridicule and insult people’s beliefs and then are proud of the hate peddling. When found out, you repeat the same thing again and accuse others of being ‘raised on template’. Just becasue churumuri gives you the platform to raise your hatemongering does not make it right.
21 August 2009 at 2:24 pm
Khan, you people live in dreams, BJP will never be split. Yes we have Thatha as our Neta, but what about u people u have a Firangi Bahu as your neta. You people do not have a single leader under your belt. Do you want us hatemongering like what u do? When we start to do that u will run for the cover.
