Survival of fittest is a great photo opportunity

CM

In the run-up to the general elections, the “former future prime minister of India” pumped iron to the pop of the photo bulbs. At the chintan baithak of BJP ministers at the JSS Mutt in Suttur, 28 km from Mysore, on Wednesday, chief minister B.S. Yediyurappa, his cabinet colleague Shobha Karandlaje, and their colleagues limber up for Thursday morning’s newspapers.

  1. Anonymous Guy Says:

    Interesting name: chintan bhaitak.

Wonder if any RSS type churumuri commentor can give a summary of what came out of all the uttak-bhaitak?

  2. Amar Says:

That was a good laugh before going to bed.

On a more civilized note, whatever happened to privacy. All they are doing is getting some exercise for the air-condition-only, mineral-water-drinking bodies.

Let the man and the woman do their yoga in peace.

  3. Yogesha Says:

What are they doing? I think they are trying to Digest their food in this way. They had Extra King size Non-Veg TALI with Rama rasa (Forign Wiskey). So they felt act something which they can not do normally. people are dieing for food outside many people are jobless, when these buggers listen common people problems? I’ll advise who does not have food, does not have shelter, who does not have job,,, take the stone and Hit these ministers. They will arrest and send you to jail & court. In court you say because of these buggers I dont have anything. thats y I hit them.

  4. mysore peshva Says:

Yogesha sir, please let the facts cool your anger. From media reports, Yeddi and Shobha seem to be “pure vegetarian” — and teetotaler.

  5. Faldo Says:

It is a good sign that they are trying to keep themselves fit.

  6. mysore peshva Says:

The irony in a report in today’s SOM (regarding the uthak baithak in Suttur) had me guffawing:

“BJP National General Secretary Ananthkumar spoke on ‘How to become a good Minister.’”

  7. Pai Says:

    Hello Yogesha,
Who told you that they supply Non-Veg Tali and foreign liquor at JSS Mutt, Sutturu ?
Also, why are you soo angry if a party makes its members do some ‘vyaama’ and ‘yogasana’? It’s much better than other parties where people check into expensive hotels or resorts, drink and throw up on each other!

  8. ram Says:

    Yogesha…. hangover hogilva???

  9. Anshuman Patel Says:

    Pai,

Let’s not get taken in by all these pseudo austerity thingie that’s going on. I would say that we need to be cynical about all the political parties sans may be the hard Leftist variety.

You would be surprised if you just did a minor check on Google about five-star culture and BJP. Quite a few ‘chintan’s ‘manthan’s and ‘baithak’s have apparently taken place in the midst of fair bit of luxury:)

    Few randomly picked examples.

2009 Chintan Baithak – Shimla Peterhoff

2004 National executive @ Mumbai – 7-star hotel/resort by the side of Powai lake

2002 National executive @ Goa – five/seven star luxury resort

The bottomline is simple. Let’s not get carried away by our favourite parties and wink at all that they do while castigating the others. I still believe that most of the politicians in most of the political parties in India are corrupt and hypocrites of the first order.

  10. Pai Says:

    Anshuman Patel,
I have no illusions when it comes to political parties. At the same time, staying cynical all the time, may not be a good thing to do. I encourage austerity drive by any party. It doesn’t mean that I totally start ‘believing’ them overnight!!

  11. ram Says:

every party has a budget and works within it or seems so. where do JDS and COng meet? Behind Busstand urinals is it? and I wonder why BJP allowed the stupid journos where Yoga was being practiced!

  12. sathya Says:

Journalists too should do some hart searching. Probably is it over curiosity that is making them to highlight such things. Thank God they have not followed them to riverside inSuttur.

  13. mysore peshva Says:

mr. yeddiyurappa clearly needs more practice in the triangle pose (“utthita trikonasana”). http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/494
