CNN-IBN sports editor Gaurav Kalra dreams up a graceful statement that the IPL team owners could have made instead of the farcical reasons they have been trotting out on why Pakistani players were ignored in the bidding for season 3:
“We, the team owners of the Indian Premier League regret to announce that none of us will be bidding for any Pakistani players at today’s auction. We have arrived at this decision with a heavy heart and after detailed consultations amongst ourselves. Our decision has been conveyed to IPL chairman Lalit Modi and we have requested him to convey the same to the 11 players who were up for auction and the PCB. While we are in no doubt about the high calibre of the Pakistani players available, our hand has been forced by matters beyond ours and indeed the players’ control. We fear that in the current political environment, the presence of Pakistani players may create unexpected security concerns which are best avoided at this time. We apologise to the players and the Pakistan Cricket Board for the inconvenience caused in getting security clearances from their foreign and interior ministries. We would also like to assure the players that the door is not closed on them for future editions of the IPL and it remains our sincere hope that fans will be able to enjoy their resplendent talent in this tournament’s future editions”.

Is auctioning haram or halal in Islam?

First of all, what proof does Pakis have to say that they were discriminated against in the “Indian” PL auction? They should first furnish proof.
Also, the other 50 odd players who were not “purchased” are silent. They don’t seem to have any issue. So Pakis, shut the fuck up.

Is kalra eyeing Modi’s position ? Lalit is too smart a chap with Grand Ashokas becoming Lalit Ashokas and north and south beauties sans brains shetty and zintao surrounding him as if it’s a reality Big Boss and him advicing them with all enthu!!
What has Kalra got that Lalit doesn’t have?

Good. Gaurav.
This kind of declaration would have saved the blushes for everybody concerned.

Et tu Churmuri?
Who honestly cares about IPL.
The media, is interested because their advertisersare sponsors to the teams AND because they desperately need anything that vaguley ressembles.
Does anybody really care about the farce that is IPL? Should we care?
IPL is nothing but a useless commodity.
Note to film stars turned cheer-leaders of money-spinning sporting event: Spare us this torcer. Stick to shaking your hips on screen or reality shows.

What is the need for apologizing ? If this Kalra bloke (and all who are criticizing) had put in millions of $s of his own money he would have also done the same thing.
Those Pakis should realize that they cannot go on creating trouble without suffering the consequences.
We should support the IPL team owners. After all its their money and their business needs should come first. IPL is not here to play politics or do diplomacy. Thats the job of the governments of the two countries.
As some one has commented above, there were soo many players who werent picked up. None of them complained.

Pakis should be banned for life from playing in India.

Let us admit that IPL, however stupid and superficial cricket, is a commercial venture and if the team owners are putting up thousands of dollars for the players, they need something in return. Why is no one talking about the ‘unsold ‘Australian players? personally i thought the auction was reminiscent of the auction of slaves.

It is time that IPL is abolished
