Tweedledum-bhai, Tweedledee-bhai & vice-versa

Sheela Bhatt on rediff.com:

“He is, obviously, a shrewd politician. He is a 24/7 politician. He also knew political management. He ridiculed Congressmen with his superiority complex and sharp observations—almost daily. He used information as a weapon. He is obstinate in his view that Islamic jihad has engulfed South Asia and it has to be suppressed by constant vigil, covert actions and intelligence.

“His arrogance is as legendary as Chidambaram‘s. He never entertained reporters. He had some terribly wrong notions about the functions of the media in Indian democracy. He never gave regular briefings. He kept reporters away. He’s a manipulative leader who knew his limitations very well. He found all the organs of democracy in New Delhi biased.

“His public image among his supporters was that of a bully, and that he would never compromise on Hindutva. He underestimated the power of men and women in khaki, and his total lack of judgment about the Supreme Court’s influence. “

That’s Amit Shah, Gujarat’s former minister of state for home, not his boss, home minister and chief minister, Narendra Modi.

This is where NDA gov’t missed out. They could have brought out the big guns of Bofors on Madam, Lalu etc instead of actually doing ‘governing.’ They shud have concentrated on politics first and governing later. First eliminate your rivals before thinking of building a monopoly. Learn from TN politics.

    Karihaida,

What special ‘governing’ did the NDA government do when they were in power?

Looks like CBI has some real proof against Amit Shah, who is now on the backfoot. Lets see how this one pans out.

If BJP did not pursue Bofors, maybe they had something of their own to hide? Or maybe they had no real proof? Whatever the reason, it shows that BJP was at fault for not punishing the corrupt and the guilty and shirking their responsibility. Kind of like their capitulation to terrorists in the airline hijacking case.

Part of governing is uncovering the big thieves and making an example of their mis/deeds.

For a change it is good to see politician/criminals sweating.

    Hinduja Bros.

BJP getting to rule India for 7 years and changing so little in the way we run our country was in a way a good thing. It disillusioned people like me who for long thought BJP can change India for the better.
