The main Amba Vilas palace in Mysore, the cynosure of all eyes that now attracts more tourists than the Taj Mahal in Agra, turns 100 years old in 2012.
U.B. VASUDEV in Tampa, Florida, sends panoramic pictures of the palace shot by him last March. Each of the panoramas, a magnificent addition to existing photography of the palace, were created by stitching five frames together (click on the picture to view a larger image).
Vasudev also adds this comment:
“With one and a half years to go, I hope they will spruce up the palace before the anniversary. It is heart wrenching for us who grew up in the erstwhile Royal Mysore. It is unfortunate that we take things for granted without realising their value when we keep seeing it every day.”

Great photos Mr. Vasudev. You’ve really captured Mysore Palace’s grace. During my 8-10 trips to Mysore over the last 10 years, I too have noticed a deterioration in the city, but also the country as a whole. Unfortunately it doesnt look like things are going to be changing for the better in the near future, so we must remember Mysore’s glory for what it was and will always remain in our hearts.

Dear Mr. Vasudev and all other contributors,
The photographs clicked by Mr. Vasudev are charmingly beautiful. In retrospect, it brings great happiness and little sorrow at the current downward trend.
The critical review by each individual is worth noting. Power, profits, publicity have acquired great dimensions in Mysore like in all other places. This has resulted in dilution in all sectors. It is a global phenomenon. Mysore has also inherited some good and many bad influences.
We choose the Govt. we deserve. Five years back we chose some and we felt the society paid very dearly for it. This time another party and a different leader are chosen, we hope things will be better.
Being fed up with traffic jams, I shifted from Bangalore to Mysore; this has given me plenty of satisfaction and joy. Like most of you I am also interested in Mysore maintain its top position in Eco- tourism.
My humble request to all of you is come to Mysore, spend some time, exchange some ideas, give some suggestion, address the media,support some of your family members to influence the leaders. Things will improve. When it comes from knowledgeable persons like you it is respected, and due attention will be paid.
I thank all of you for your concern for this historical place.
