Dear Raghuram ji,
Nice to know that you enjoyed the good old number: OH! TO BE IN ENGLAND although you were in the Emerald Island of Sri Lanka, Ceylon of yore. Your depiction of dal (parpu) and rice downed with sips of Scotch made me feel younger. Yes, those days at Shillong during 70s while serving in the IAF where at the Rotract Club, we used to have spirits followed by rice and curry lunch.
Although many term British norms as snobbery, I have experienced it to be sophisticated. I will mail a brief write-up scribbled in late 1999 and trust you can feature it on your thought-provoking website of Churimuri. It was about snobbery as viewed by me, of course in a lighter vein.
