Kalyanji-Anandji‘s brain-chewing theme music for Don has been buzzing in the ears of music (and film) buffs for close to 30 years now. In the amateur video (top), Jeff Smith, Anders Lyon and Rory Kramer give us another excuse to replay the superlative number.
Below, the “kick-ass” track as the actual movie credits roll. Not even A.R. Rehman‘s most advanced electronics wizardry will ever come close to the spontaneous orchestration of the Brothers Shah, who came to Bombay to start a kirana store and ended up scoring some of its most scintillating music.
The American video seems to have been made by the brain dead – just look at the don. Its not even funny as a parody. They just lifted the tune and did some cr*p. Talking of cr*p: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ll8Qm8yDj-8

Let me give you a simple example and you can make your own deductions: The konga could have easily used, Ma tujhe pranaam’; instead he made it Ma tujhe salaam!
And then, he brings in some Egyptian strains of music badly blended with Karnatic music (Rangeela and others) and ends up making everything bad! I grant you there are die-hard fans of this music man!
