When you see plastic, just bend and pick up

The multi-lingual Kannada actress Bhavana joins a camp organised by the Cubbon park walkers’ association to create awareness on making Bangalore’s iconic garden plastic-free, on Monday.

Hopefully, the big white bag on the right isn’t plastic.

This is a routine ritual of ivory tower residents around Cubbon Park. They make sure that all the newspapers send their photographers when they ‘bend and pick’.

Pastic is a consequence of culture. In India, people feel it’s below their dignity to carry proper bags. Walk into any supermakert and you see most of the fruits and vegetable pre-packet in plastic wrappers.

The problem doesn’t vaish because you discard them in a bin.

  2. Doddi Buddi Says:

I would pick up Bhavana any day and recycle her as a Bollywood Queen!

  3. Faldo Says:

When you see plastic “and the cameras are clicking”, make sure you bend and pick it up!

  4. Vinay N. Says:

The drama continues to be played out and the name of the play is called ‘Tokenism’. Tokens must transform into way of life and lets hope that what happens.

Yes this is the puja, achara, one needs to do daily, always. Keep rising awareness..

  6. Nastika Says:

When it comes to plastic, science has failed humanity. Science hasn’t found a good answer for plastic disposal. Its unfair to blame humanity for plastic mess.

Coming to the cubbon-park camp, I hope they pick up *any* litter too, instead of just plastic litter.

  7. Sanjeeva Says:

We the human kind have misused every scientific invention. Plastic is no exception.

  9. Anonymous Guy Says:

The uglies surrounding Bhavana spoiling the pic. BTW what to do with plastic we pick up? Is there a way to ensure it is recycled and not dumped on the outskirts of Bangalore?

  10. gourish chatterjee Says:

This is such a pathetic attempt at PR. What is she trying to do – attempt to enter bollywood.

Lame attempt, and lame media at work.
