After months of dithering, l’affaire Justice P.D. Dinakaran has suddenly gained steam. First, The Hindu reported that the Supreme Court collegium had decided to ask the tainted chief justice of the Karnataka high court to go on leave as he was not performing any judicial work since December, hampering the court’s activities.
Then, after “reports” that Dinakaran was going slow, giving the impression that he was defying the collegium’s advice, the law minister Veerappa Moily has made bold to remind him that “the hand of law is long enough to catch anyone” and that Dinakaran is “neither above or beyond the reach of law”.
Meaning: Justice Dinakaran will have to go on leave as advised pending the completion of an inquiry as part of the impeachment proceedings launched by the Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari “on charges of land-grabbing, corruption and abuse of judicial office”.
Now, Dinakaran has been transferred to Sikkim High Court. This is apparently being done so that the chief justice slated to replace him in Karnataka (Justice Madan B. Lokur) is not placed in a piquant situation should Justice Dinakaran cancel his leave and return before the inquiry is complete, etc.
Questions: If Justice Dinkaran is unfit for the Supreme Court, can he be fit for Karnataka? If Justice Dinakaran is unfit for Karnataka, can he be fit for Sikkim or any other State? Is north-east India justified in seeing this posting as yet another sign of apathy shown by mainland India?

Audi alteram partem? Hear the other side out?
Shame !
Dinakaran must be kept on compulsory leave or waiting or whatever that is called where he may get a salary but has no work to do.
His posting to Sikkim just reiterates the contempt we have for the NE regions with and how we treat the region as a dustbin for something the rest of India does not want.
I am shocked and ashamed.
The CJI owes an explanation to Sikkim and rest of the nation.

Ha! Congress falls back on its old remedy!
Sikkim in this part of the year must be heaven and in those small states, he will live like a king.

He is from a privileged community like many, so no body is able to do any thing. Moily says that Deena is not above law, but he is LAW. He refused to go on leave so he gets posted elsewhere. This is the law of our land where Moily rules, probably Dinakaran is a member of the Congress legal cell

In terms of judicial posting, those who are posted to Sikkim are literally never heard from again.
There are all of 8 judges in the whole state… not just the High Court but every judicial officer in the entire State of Sikkim can be counted on one’s fingers.
It is the utter wilderness in terms of judicial posting and usually it was reserved for honest and upright trouble makers who might otherwise be in the news and the limelight for the courage and uprightness.
In a way, it is also a punishment posting because there…is…absolutely…nothing…that…happens…in….Sikkim. No high profile cases, no super-rich litigants, no constant-press-attention-and-misreporting of cases, no nothing.
It’s a lovely place though.
He’ll rot there.

What’s happening with the Tamil Makkals? – the classical oldest civilization with classical language
Dinakaran,
KG Balakrishnan.
Chidambaram (has resigned which gets rejected by PM.)
Nityananda (shouldn’t it be Nityanandan? )
Are the classical people above all that they are protected like this for all juvenile crimes?
MMS may be singing “Dil(li) to Bachcha hai Ji” “Tamil to makkal hai ji”
aur “CRPF to Kachcha hai ji” “Rest of India Maoist hai ji” aur hum “saddi american hai ji”
Paapi chiraayu.

We don’t need him in Sikkim. Sikkim is heaven without people like these who know nothing other than ruling by harassing others. classical oldest civilization with classical language? What it is to do with him. He has no morals at all. No need to relate him with classical oldest civilization. What classical thing has he retained??? Just visit once Sikkim and i’m sure you’ll love it for the liveliness of people there.

Ah, what wouldn’t I give for a life as a dalit.

Yea it’s pretty pathetic that instead of sacking or prosecuting people, we ‘transfer’ them to the north-east. It seems that that is considered an adequate ‘punishment’ to any mainland indian.

Karnataka is a better place for Dinakaran than Sikkim; Made for each other.

Andy is right about our disrespect for Sikkim. Wasn’t it annexed under the pretext that Jigme Dorji Wangchuk was corrupt beyond redemption and New Delhi knew that China would not throw any real obstacles in India’s path?
As for PD, he is utterly psychotic or a saint misunderstood. Why is he even being transferred? “Thappu maadivanannu koppakke haaku” does not apply here. Incidentally, does anybody remember the situation in 2006 or so when some High Court judges and legal people were caught having orgiastic fun at a Maisur watering hole? I think one of them was transferred to Odisha and another to Sikkim. Asylum for legal wrong doers must be a novel, certainly Indian, concept.
Did I read somewhere that our Neethi Arasan is going to stage a “baitak” in front of Nidhaanasoudha to insist on his right to stay in his official quarters right across Ambedkar Beedi?
We need to create an asylum district or state for dalits and who are beyond the law. Dinakaran and Shivaraamu could be settled there. Renukacharya, too, although he doesn’t qualify on the basis of birth. Had Jagjeevan Ram been prosecuted for “forgetting” to file his tax returns for ten successive years, he too could have been given a retirement home in such a “colony,” as we say in Kannada Naadu.
Has there been any reliable demographic study of what the Indian version of Affirmative Action has accomplished so far? Or have such studies been stifled for fear of raising dalit indignation? “Sathyameva Jayathe,” indeed.

Murthy,
What crap you are talking about? Why are you bringing in tamils into this issue and its irresistible for you isn’t it?
Nobody can stop your in-secured thinking about tamil/tamils and this is going to haunt forever, be it the cauvery or classical status. Its high time you stop this hate mongering and write something which makes some sense.
KG Balakrishnan is a mallu, what juvenile crime(s) did KGB and Chidambaram commit. Recent maoist attacks are highly condemnable and it shows our anti-terror infrastructure is not able to counter the insurgency.Anybody in PC’s position couldn’t have done a better job.
Nityananda and dinakaran needs to be severely dealt with and law will take its course.
Thanks in advance for some saner/meaningful response from you.

rajendran,
Tamil insecurities !! What can I say to you rajendran, about our neighbours!
criminal was to kill 74 for a mindless decision.
but what can be more juvenile than to exchange public fax and telephone numbers with red corridor people and then play Kunte Bille? The ’45 born still is a kid!
– I have seen much worse versions from TT womanizers on all Tamil trains. Very aptly they need Tamil boards. I agree.
